-
- Intelliship is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
- to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your
- friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
- another system. The essence of "user-supported" software is to
- provide personal computer users with quality software without
- high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
- continue to develop new products. If you find this program
- useful and find that you are using Intelliship and continue to
- use Intelliship after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
- registration payment of $60.00. The $60.00 registration fee will
- license one copy for use on any one computer at any one time.
- You must treat this software just like a book. An example is
- that this software may be used by any number of people and may be
- freely moved from one computer location to another, so long as
- there is no possibility of it being used at one location while
- it's being used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two
- different persons at the same time.
-
- Commercial users of Intelliship must register and pay for their
- copies of Intelliship within 30 days of first use or their
- license is withdrawn. Site-License arrangements may be made by
- contacting Intelliware.
-
- Anyone distributing Intelliship for any kind of remuneration must
- first contact Intelliware at the address below for authorization.
- This authorization will be automatically granted to distributors
- recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for
- shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
- Intelliship immediately (however, Intelliware must still be
- advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the
- latest version of Intelliship).
-
- You are encouraged to pass a copy of Intelliship along to your
- friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to register their
- copy if they find that they can use it. All registered users
- will receive a copy of the latest version of the Intelliship
- system including technical support.

- Intelliship Overview
-
-
- Intelliship is a UPS accepted shipping manifest system designed
- and written for the IBM PC & compatibles. Intelliship uses the
- very fast & powerful BTRIEVE record database engine to access the
- databases quickly.
-
- As you go through the system, here are a few items that will help
- you use Intelliship:
-
- 1. Any menu item with three dots (...) at the end, goes to
- another menu.
-
- 2. You can use a mouse on various menus and fields. You must run
- a DOS mouse driver to activate the mouse inside Intelliship.
- Consult your mouse manual to activate your mouse. Usually you
- can do this merely by typing "mouse" at the DOS prompt.
-
- 3. Any field with a "sideways triangle" at the end of the field
- is a searchable field. To search within these fields, use the
- following function keys:
-
- F5 - Find First Alphabetically
- F6 - Find Last Alphabetically
- F7 - Find Previous Alphabetically
- F8 - Find Next Alphabetically
- F9 - Find Generically
-
- Search Example:
-
- To find "ABC Roofing Company" in the Address Maintenance
- Module, place the cursor in the Name field, enter in "ABC"
- and press F9. The first record that starts with "ABC" will
- show on the screen. If it didn't find a record that starts
- with "ABC" in the name field, it will find a record closest
- to that criteria. You can press F7 to find the previous
- record alphabetically or press F8 to find the next record
- alphabetically.
-
- 4. Intelliship can be used with Weigh Scales with a PC interface.
- This feature is available to minimize data entry errors and
- increase the speed of entering packages into the system. Contact
- Tech Support for more information.
-
- 5. All the reports in the Report Menu can be printed to the
- screen. If you print a report to the screen, it saves the report
- to 'report.rpt'. This report will be there until you either
- print another report to the screen or you manually delete it.
- This is to allow you to edit it if you wish or to archive it on
- disk instead of on paper.
-

-
-
- 5/17/96 Intelliship Page 6
-
-
- 6. In the lower left hand part of the various screens, there is a
- help line to guide you through the system. You may also press F1
- for Help.
-
- 7. Intelliship uses 3" x 5" shipping labels.

- Setup Intelliship
- (For New Installations)
-
- 1. Notify your local UPS Representative that you are going to use
- a PC Host manifest system to automate your shipping. Your UPS
- representative will give you a computer manifest book to record
- your shipment summaries, etc. This book is designed only for UPS
- customers who use a computerized manifest system. Also, ask your
- rep for COD Tags on continuous forms so that you can print COD
- tags from Intelliship.
-
- 2. Install and run Intelliship.
-
- 3. Go to the System Maintenance Menu. The supervisor password is
- initially set to "super".
-
- 4. Go to "Setup Intelliship". Enter all the information on the
- screen. Press Esc key to save information after you are done.
-
- 5. Go to "Setup US Zone Charts". Enter the US Zone Chart for
- your area. Press F3 to clear the US Zone Chart to initialize file
- if there are records already entered. There is a record counter
- on the bottom of the screen. Repeat this process for Canada &
- Mexico Zone Charts.
-
- 6. Go to "Printer Setup". Enter the printer ports for the
- particular printers (report, label, cod-tag). To make
- Intelliship as efficient as possible, you need to have three LPT
- ports installed on your computer. If a particular printer is not
- installed, enter 0. In the report printer, you need to enter the
- CONDENSE printer codes and CANCEL CONDENSE printer codes. Refer
- to your printer manual for these codes. Here are probable codes
- that might work, however, these codes are not guaranteed to be
- compatible with your printer:
-
- Dot Matrix
-
- Condense............ 15 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
- Cancel Condense..... 18 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

-
- Condense............ 27 38 107 50 83 0 0 0
- Cancel Condense..... 27 38 107 48 83 0 0 0
-
- 7. Exit System Maintenance menu by pressing Esc.

-
-
-
- 9. Go to Enter UPS Packages and enter in various shipments to US,
- Canada, Mexico, & International with different services such as
- COD, Call Tag, etc. After you enter in these packages, print a
- manifest. The manifest needs to have at least three packages
- from all the services that UPS offers. Also, you need to print
- out a sample shipping label & COD tag. You may print just one
- label of each and then turn off the label and COD tag printers in
- the System Maintenance so that you don't waste labels. You can
- go directly to the System Maintenance by press Alt-S.
-
- 10. Give all the reports and labels to your UPS representative.
- Once your UPS rep approves your installation, you can start using

- Import Addresses
-
- This powerful utility allows you to import any quote-
- comma delimited file that contains the addresses you
- want to use in Intelliship. To use this program, you
- will need to know the file structure of the quote-comma
- delimited file. The following are description of the
- screen fields:
-
- Import Filename - Enter the filename that you want to
- import. The filename may include the drive letter and
- path (example: c:\test\address.txt).
-
- Name Field through Customer Number - Enter the field
- number of the quote-comma delimited record.
-
- Example: If the first record is: (Joe Smith, 123
- Main St.), then you would enter 1 in the Name
- Field because the first field contains the Name.
- Then you will enter 2 in the Address Line 1
- because the second field is the first line of the
- address.
-
- Enter in all the field numbers for the particular
- fields on the screen.
-
- After you enter in all the fields, then the first
- record will appear on the screen. If the fields are in
- the appropriate fields in the bottom half of the screen
- then enter "YES" when it asks if all the fields are
- correct to continue the import process. Enter "NO" if
- it is not.
-
- If you enter "YES", then you will see all the records
- being saved as this module is reading the quote-comma
- delimited file.
-
- At the end of the import, it will show you how many
- records were imported into the address database.
-
- Note: Before the records are saved in the address
- database, a backup copy is created under the filename
- of "address.sav"

- Definition of Shareware
-
-
-
- Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
- before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
- using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
- differ on details -- some request registration while others
- require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
- registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
- using the software to an updated program with printed manual.
-
- Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
- and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
- exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
- programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
- of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
- and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
- distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
- and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
- specific group. For example, some authors require written
- permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
- Shareware.
-
- Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
- should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
- whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
- fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.
- And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware
- has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
- product, you don't pay for it.
